Personally, I loved how Carrie Bradshaw rocked her Carrie nameplate necklace in the earlier seasons of SATC.

I've always wanted to get one, obviously with Karina instead of Carrie... but I've seen some girls wear these necklaces, and well, its looks a little silly and totally 'omg carrie wannabe...' On the otherhand...I think some people could totally pull it off and look very chic

... why I should move to America...

Juicy Fruit... seriously - it is sooo good compared to our Juicy Fruit. Its just sooo much more tasty and I love the the long sticks. Chewing Gum in Australia usually comes in a smaller stick and its definately not as yum...

A work mate was just in Texas at our US office...and she knows how much I love American Juicy Fruit....so I got 2 packs...which will last me about 2 days. haha.

SPRING RACING IN AUS

I think one thing I will TOTALLY miss about Australia, is the spring racing carnival.
Spring in Australia means plenty of Race meets (Horse Racing that is)
Don't know a thing about horses or betting? Don't worry - 90% of the crowd don't...it's all about the drinking and flirting and fashion.
A few of the races throughout the month of Oct and Nov are;
Melbourne Cup:
* AKA The Race That Stops a Nation. Seriously, at 3.05pm on the first Tuesday of Novemeber, don't even bother trying to call any office, make a Dr/Dentist appt because for the 5 mins that the race is on - everything shut's down.
* The Melbourne Cup has the best Fashion on the Feilds compeition. Here is a pic of this year's top 3;

*At least one or two Hollywood celebs are 'special guests' at the Melbourne Cup. In pervious years it has been Eva Longoria, The Hilton Sisters, Carson from Queer Eye and this year, Kate Bosworth & Andrea Bowen (from Desperate Housewives)

Ladies Day & Girls Day Out:
*Held at Rosehill racecourse in Sydney...this is where the Sydney siders celebrate a day at that races. Drinking usually starts around 11am...and goes until the wee hours of the morning
* Basically its just an excuse for the boys to wear a suit and the girls to wear a hat and dress or facinator. Ladies Day & Girls Day out is not just for females!! Males flock to the races on these days, because its a sure thing that there will be drunk girls around (last weeks crowd was 25,000 +)!!!
* A few pics from last Saturday when my and my crew went to Girls Day Out;

A few points to keep in mind about the 'races' in Aus;
* Most females, and some males are so uninterested in the horse racing side of the races that we are lucky to see one race. In saying that, when the horses are coming into the finishing line everyone stands up and cheer as if there horse is neck and neck to win first place!!! Its just part of the fun!
* Despite the Sydney weather (usually resulting in Sunburn), Toilet line ups, the half hour bar cue and the crowds...it really is a great day!!!

A new blogging friend of mine, Wanderlusting, told me that she bought the Sephora Blockbuster Palette which reminded me that I have been meaning to post about this for a while.

P.S totally un blog related news... after nearly 3 years I became Single this weekend. Doing what any newly single gal does - I hit the shops from some retail thearpy and then went out drinking and dancing with my gals!!!

HOW DO YOU PREFER TO SHOP???

I got my tops that I bought from Lisy B last week, and, while they look fantastic on - I must admit that had I have not seen them on the model I probably would've been a little worried upon opening my package. After trying them on myself they do look just as good (even though I'm not a Size 0)

But it got my thinking about the difference between online shopping and retail shopping in stores! Somethings that I buy from online stores I wouldn't even look twice at in store and vice versa. My Rachel Pally bolero and Mike & Chris tee for example - I definitely wouldn't have purchased had I only seen them hanging on the rack in a department store.

Of course, shop outlets have the advantage of allowing you to try on your clothes, and take them immediately etc... where as, for those impulsive shoppers, online shopping allows us to 'think before we buy' (haha not!)

I guess there are Pro's and Con's to each 'method' of shopping.

Do you prefer online shopping or shopping in a store/mall/department store?

MUST HAVE SCARF

This Burberry Check Patchwork Scarf should be on the top of your list of ‘staple items to buy for Winter’.

Why should you spend $170.00 on a scarf when I can choose from a million other scarfs for a fraction of the price??

Because… it means you can still wear your chain store coat, and steve madden boots and just tie this little piece of luxury around your neck and still look like a designer wearing fashionista with wads of cash.

I have not had botox...although the above mentioned friend is only 25 and had it...and I have to admit - it looked amazing!!

Like every other red blooded women…I have a ‘thing’ for shoes. It’s not out of the norm for me to be browsing an online store and find many pair of heels that make me go ‘ohhh’ and ‘ahhh’ – however, when I find a pair of heels that make me choke on my skinny hot choc, I know I’m hooked.

The almost 5 inch heel is sexy, the satin is glamorous and the leather is a little rock and the peeptoe and platform is so fall…these Christian Louboutin Josephine satin and leather platforms(with signature red sole) are perfect in every way (except maybe the price)

5 THINGS...

I got tagged by my gals Katie Q and Leigh Ann to tell you 5 things and you have to guess which one is a lie... so here goes.

1. I was accepted in the RAAF (Royal Australian Air Force) when I was 18...although pulled out at the 11th hour.

2. I've been on diet pills, that are meant for really obese people twice in the last 4 years - both for 3 months at a time.

3. My mum died when I was a teenager...so I grew up with my dad and brother. How I became so girly I'll never know.

I really want a pair of man-style pants, but I am not sure how to wear them or what to wear with them. I’ve also had trouble finding them they aren’t as common as I thought they would be. Any suggestions?

Man style pants can either make and break your outfit. The key is to get good quality pair that fits well and it the perfect length. If they are too baggy around the waist/hips or too long it’ll just look like you’ve stepped into your boyfriends suit pants.
Here is the best pair I’ve seen so far;

My fav way to wear man style pants is in the office… but depending on the style you buy… they can be worn almost anywhere. The most important thing is to wear a very fitted, simple top to balance everything out and avoid looking frumpy. Add a pair of stilettos to elongate your legs and a oversized hobo bag to take away from the ‘edginess’ and add a bit of color and you’ve got the perfect look.
